Welcome back futbol fans. A new season is upon us here in muggy ol' St. Louis. The warm, late summer air has provided a big wake-up call to the fresh faces of the Attack. Training sessions have been running for about two weeks now and the the boys have responded well. As vacations fade away and free time dwindles with the start of a new school year for many, the West 75 Attack have been REALLY focused on conditioning and regaining the touch they may have lost over the summer.
They return as contenders in the 1st Division in the SLYSA league, and hope to make a big run this season, culminating with a promotion to the Championship Division. The boys finished the spring season in the middle of the pack, but took hold in a post season tournament and claimed victory. During this push, they displayed many of the characteristics of a solid team. Several attacks and goals were direct result of build-up play and team effort, rather than individual glimpses of brilliance. Defending was a big key to success throughout the year, as many close games were won with a solid whole-team-defense mentality.
The loss of several players, and the acquisition of several others has the new version of the Attack trying to hold onto what has worked well for them in the past, but growing together into the future. Players, coaches, and parents are all looking forward to the opening match, less than 4 weeks away, against a quality Lou Fusz Academy team. Here's wishing the boys a tough, but joyous pre-season.
Go ATTACK!
