Right at home on the Road
Matchday #3 for the W75 ATTACK had the Kolping Kicks SC "seeing red", as the Attack donned their away-match, red kits for the first time this season. It was a quick turnaround from Saturday's loss, but the team responded well on Sunday evening. In fact, the road team received some timely goal scoring from their front line tonight, as the big money strikers have begun to step up and earn their keep.
The opening warmup for the ATTACK was hindered by a rambunctious, on-field celebration, and picture ceremony for another club. Each side started rather sluggishly, as if to say that Sunday is the day of rest, but the ATTACK were the first to strike.
--RE found the back of the net with precision after receiving a beautifully laid-off ball from Tufan near the top of the box. The striker made no mistake, and gave the ATTACK the lead 1-0, only 15' into the game.
--Three minutes later, Car-Car continued his hot streak and netted his 2nd of the season, following a solid defending play from Pulga on the transition.
--A miscue inside the ATTACK box, and some miscommunication led to the 1st goal for Kolping Kicks. An indirect free kick was awarded, and KK made the ATTACK pay.
--The boys from the ATTACK were not having it, and showed some class and resiliency to answer back only 90 seconds later. Tufan, on the receiving end this time, scored on a nice dish from Rocket whose strength in the middle kept KK at a distance most of the evening.
--Car-Car's dominance and pressure on the front line created another goal only moments after
the strike from Tufan. The 3rd of 4 goals from the striker position in the match saw the away-red's take a 4-1 lead into the locker room for halftime.
Coaches from both sides likely had some "strong" words for the boys on each of the benches as most of the 2nd half was tightly contested and defending was the name of the game. Constant offensive pressure from the ATTACK began to ware on the home team, and a breakthrough looked inevitable. Oddly enough, the first goal scored in the 2nd half was done so by the home team on another unforced error by the ATTACK back line. A bad give-away in the penalty box saw the Kolping Kicks SC bring the game within reach at the 45' mark.
The unwavering pressure from the ATTACK was just too much for the KK team to endure, though.
--Within 2 minutes, the ATTACK broke through. High pressure and explosive energy from TNT paid dividends for the striker as he netted his 1st goal of his rookie campaign. The 4th from the striker position on the match.
--Jamez was able to score his 1st goal of the season as well, on a delicate finish in the dying minutes of the match. Clearly the goal of the match, as it involved 4, or possibly 5 ATTACK players moving the ball from goal-line to goal-line, and mere inches across in the end. El Jefe made short work of the KK pressure, and was able to find TNT with a perfectly struck ball up the line, into space. "T"'s pace and power was on full display as he tracked down the ball and played a wonderful, inch-perfect cross to the far post. Jamez was able to do the rest with poise and precision.
All in all, it was a good day for the ATTACK, as they saluted their fans and headed for home with a 6-2 victory over the Kolping Kicks SC. With the sun sinking low on the horizon, they look forward to the next battle, and the hard work that will help them climb further up the table.
On and on...
