VICTORY!
Congratulations to all the W75 ATTACK boys. A season opening victory against the rival IW EAGLES was well deserved. The ATTACK jumped out early with lots of pressure and an early goal from Car-Car, quickly putting the Eagles back on their heels. After an onslaught of pressure, chances and near misses, the ATTACK really got rolling...firing in 5 goals in 10 minutes just before halftime. After the break, 2 was the lucky number with two more goals coming just 2 minutes apart, early in half #2.
The only bright spot for the Eagles came with about 3 minutes remaining in regulation. The Eagle's star striker, Beamer, found the back of the net to break up the clean sheet.
But today was all about the ATTACK.
Ty-Ty with the 1st half clean sheet, and some good hard work and offensive pressure in the 2nd half.
CarCar with the season opening strike 5' into the game, and some very acrobatic goaltending in the 2nd half.
Ari got off to a slow start, then really forced pressure and turnovers. Finished with (2) goals on the day.
Pulga scored his 1st goal of the season and displayed some fancy footwork along the sidelines several times.
Drew was able to shut down nearly every attack by the Eagles, and scored his 1st goal of the season, as well.
Dr.J continually opened up play for the ATTACK on the wing. He was able to find space and relieve pressure time and time again.
Rocket had the goal of the game, on a beautiful passing play involving (3) other players. While he only had 1 assist, from a corner kick, there could have easily been 4 or 5 more if chances had been finished, as he served more balls in from the corner than a tennis player, today.
Raz found the back of the net twice, both with his left foot, and added (2) assists as well. In addition, he also got a stern "talking-to" from the Ref, at one point.
Tufan, arguably may have been the man-of-the-match. While he was unable to get his first goal today, he was constantly surrounding the ball, tracking back to defend, and serving crosses into the box as well. He finished the day with (3) assists, each one better than the last, and was the key component in starting the goal-of-the-day from Rocket.
Coaches Hollywood, Jazz, and DJ basked in the warmth from the high-energy and hard work from all the boys on a chilly morning.
Perfect start to a great weekend for all, hopefully.
'Til next time,
Jazz
